Want to be part of an art project that challenges representations about sociopaths?
Sociopathy is complex and I am trying to do that complexity justice through art. I'm looking for self-identifying sociopaths (or people on the spectrum) that manage to blend into society and live somewhat ordinary lives.
Each online encounter between me (the artist) and you (the participant) will result in a text and a photograph. Since we will probably never meet, we will collaborate remotely to produce the image.
The guidelines are simple: Ask someone to take a photograph of you eating a sandwich. Why? Eating is a universal activity performed by everyone, everywhere. I want viewers to find the photos relatable, rather than disturbing or alienating like most of what is already out there (google image search the term “sociopath” and you’ll know what I mean).
As for the photos themselves, I grant you full artistic freedom to choose where and how they will be taken, and by whom. You can reveal as much or as little as you want about your personal identity. The final photos will be pitched to a few online photography platforms.
