Hi all,
I have just started a Level 3 in sociology through Open Study College and below their recommended reading list. I have no problem in acquiring books and further reading, I'm just thinking these books seem to be quite old so was wondering if the content is still relevant or if anyone knows of any better books that I may find more useful?
Penguin Dictionary of Sociology 4th Edition 2006 By N Abercrombie, S Hill and B Turner
Sociology: The Basics 1999 by M Albrow
Introductory sociology 4th edition 2002 by A Bilton
Understanding Contemporary society 1999 by G Browning, A Haleli and F Webster
Sociology: A Very short introduction 2000 by S Bruce
Sociology 3rd edition 2007 by J Fulcher and J Scott
Sociology for A-Level A skills based approach 1993 By T Lawson
Sociology 12th (international) edition 2008 by K Macionis
Sociology: A global introduction 4th edition 2008 by J Macionis and K Plummer.
If the above are still good and relevant are there any particular titles you recommend I look at first? I am based in England and this is my first course on the subject, so am new to all the terminologies.
Many thanks in advance for any advise.
