Have any social workers tried Est/ Human Potential flavored interventions on themselves or clients?

I am particularly interested in the idea of extremely long sessions and the bigger emphasis on challenging interactions with group members.
I don't know too much about Est, so any critique of it from a social work perspective would be cool.
