How can interns/co-ops make friends with full-timers in the team?

Post Body

I’m pretty shy and lack some social cues, unfortunately. I find myself at a loss of what to say sometimes, even though I did get better. I’ve been part of my team for 4 months now and I have 2 more months before the program ends. I’d like to leave my name behind and make friends with some of my co-workers.

This doesn’t mean that I’ve never talked to any of them or anything. I always say hi, good morning, chat about their week, ask what they normally do, and try to learn what they’re interested in. So I know a little bit about everyone on the team. But it’s not to the extent where I can talk to them as friends.

There are 3 people on my team who are in their late 20s/early 30s and I talk to pretty often (I sit next to one and work with the other 2 for my projects).

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
