convinced a conservative he's a liberal
Post Body

So a friend of a friend was staying with my roommate for a while. I got to know him and we went out for some drinks and had a good time but got talking about politics.

For reference, I'm quite a leftist and from the UK, he's a "conservative" from Bulgaria who hates the Communists and loves capitalists.

Once we start talking I realised that he agrees on most leftist economic policy issues such as free healthcare, nationalised rail, water, power etc. He believes in big government too (lol). He loves the welfare state too.

Socially he's quite conservative. He's orthodox and doesn't hate the gays but hates "gay propaganda" (pride) in his words. I can sort of understand this because I used to be like this until I grew up a little bit. I truly don't think he is hateful but has a slightly warped view of reality and also history. He also hates liberals.

In the end I got him to take a political compass test and he was in the green zone (libertarian leftist) just like all the liberals he despises.

He sent me this screenshot and he said he still hates the liberals, gay propaganda and gender ideology. I told him he's a liberal, he agreed but maintained he dislikes the other two things.

What do I do next?
