I was having dinner with friends and brought up Cuba as an example of how socialism does work. Against sanctions and the most powerful nation's ever to exist, Cuba has managed to thrive. Universal healthcare, plenty of doctors and I believe they even created their own COVID vaccine.
This was countered with if Cuba is so great, why are their people constantly fleeing to the US? And I really didn't have a good answer.
I know every country is going to have their problems. I'm sure the media paints a one-sided picture. But what exactly is behind the Cuban refugee's desire to flee?
