I’m a freshman and just started university a couple of weeks ago and haven’t been in the dining halls. the whole idea of it makes me nervous, i don’t have any friends and i feel like everyone is going to be watching me and judging me. I’ve been eating snacks that i’ve brought and haven’t had any actual real food unless i go home on the weekends. i’m literally wasting money on a meal plan but apparently that’s not enough to convince me to eat.
it’s college everybody is busy. whomst among us is actually organized enough to balance this workload with regularly coordinated group meals? and who has the time to judge you when they know damn well they have about 20 mins to finish that plate before the diarrhea kicks in?
think through your worst case scenario. have you ever sat in a public place, watching and judging strangers for performing their biological functions in a way that you deem inadequately social? what kind of person would someone have to be to do that? do you think they would be rational? do you think their opinions would jn any way depend on your actions? do you feel intimidated by this hypothetical person, or do you feel sorry for them?
eat the food. fuck your classmates all of you are exactly as scared and confused as all the rest of you. now kiss.
