I am a beginner skateboarder, despite having a skateboard for over a year. It's very hard to get the chance to because I'm so scared that i'm gonna bail in front of someone, and they'll laugh or another condescending reaction. I sometimes practice tricks in my garden, on the grass, but I live next to someone from my school and the fence between us is pretty low. I used to go to a secluded spot next to a cemetary (graveyard) but i can hardly ride the board so i have to carry it over a mile, looking like a complete poser. I stopped doing that when someone I knew saw me walking with my board and told many other people that I was a poser. However, I have recently discovered an abandoned car park (parking lot) within a short walking distance from my house. Hopefully I can skate there with nothing to trigger my pretty extreme anxiety.
Does anyone have examples of coping mechanisms that I could use when skating to calm down my social anxiety? Thank you for reading.
