At a bar, what to do.

OK so I can make it out to the bar, im sitting here waiting for the show to start by myself. How do I get people to talk to me? Any tips on talking to people in public? I know I can hold a conversation once it gets started I just suck at starting one. Also I'm little high to try and take the edge off.
