Why exposure therapy doesn’t work for you
Post Body

I see a lot of people on here saying that “exposure therapy doesn’t work” or “it just makes me feel worse and more anxious” but i think the reason isn’t that it’s bad it’s that there missing a component. Within social anxiety there a inherent lack of self-esteem and that’s were I think the mistake is they don’t treat that as well as the social anxiety. Let me explain low self-esteem comes from have a ego now you may think that a ego is all arrogance but it can be the opposite a ego is just a inflated sense of self that is a defence mechanism against emotional hurt. A arrogant ego protects against attacks on character a low self-esteem type protects against self reflection because if every mistake you make is just another example of your worthlessness than your absolved of responsibility. So when you do exposure therapy you attack yourself and that’s where the pain and anxiety comes from.so how do you treat it simple you just love yourself don’t let any thought of self hatred get through always correct the thought and replace with positivity
