I was recently at a anime convention where they had a "chill" room where you'd just draw or do some crafts. I have a bit of anxiety and it was the third and final evening, so I was mentally and physically exhausted and decided to visit this room to relax.
There was a girl who was so extremely beautiful and charming, she even smiled at me but I took it more as just a friendly "welcome!" smile since she was a worker at the convention looking after the room.
I sat down near her, way too shy to say anything. She then started humming and slightly singing along the low-volume radio and she sounded so adorable, a personality type that seemed so wholesome and nice so I got even more shy.
It got to the point that I couldn't say anything, but I wanted to leave some sort of compliment, so I took a small piece of paper and wrote that she was really beautiful and seemed nice, adding that she had the hair to cosplay Aerith from Final Fantasy and hoped she enjoys the convention, adding a #Anxiety at the bottom. I didn't leave a name or any contact information, just a drive-by compliment. I believed that a girl like her had no chance of being single, so I didn't want to make it seem like I was hitting on her or something, but I don't know if I regret not leaving any contact information or at least my name.
I flipped the note upside down and passed it over to her, then left the room to go to a panel. Later I got the courage to go back in there and saw that she had read the note and had left hearts on it and had showed it to the other workers, we then crossed paths in the hallway and she thanked me for the note, she was really happy and it made me really happy, so I think it was worth it! Overall I am happy I did it. So maybe I'm going to start carrying sticky notes and a pen and leave random compliments for people.
