Define Social Anxiety

What actually is Social Anxiety. I get anticipatory anxiety really rally bad prior to social engagements and sometimes bad anxiety at these social functions... Sometimes even when I am not around many people. My question is, is it still social anxiety when I am not shy. I don't worry about not knowing what to say etc. I can talk to just about anyone. My problem is the fear of the fear. Anyone else like this? Is this still.considered social anxiety? Will make a difference in my treatment.
