Is there a Beginner's Guide to playing SNES games (either collecting or emulation)?

I promise I searched but didn't see anything. I'm really interested in revisiting some SNES (and potentially N64 games), but am not even sure what my best options are. I use a Mac, so I'd be limited to Mac emulators. I'm not sure I know the pros and cons between relying on emulators and looking for secondary market consoles and cartridges. Anyway, any sort of teachings are much appreciated!
