Using a pellet smoker in an electric smoker

Hello, I have never posted here before but have a question about using pellets and electric smokers. I have a small electric smoker. It has a wood chip containter but the chips always burn up in an hour or two. Also sometimes the smoke flavor just isnt there as much. I saw a hexagon pellet somker that you can use in the grill or electric smoker. Is it work switching to using pellets for a more even slow burn? Or should I look for better woodchips? Thanks for any advice.
