My teeth are relatively mild in terms of crookedness, being mostly straight, but the main offenders are my two front slightly overlapping top teeth.
My brother used SDC to realign his teeth and he swore up and down by it. I did some research on the company and saw the CBC investigation but after watching it, I didn't really feel it was a compelling enough argument to dissuade me from doing it as my teeth aren't very crowded. I came to this subreddit's top posts and looked elsewhere online and saw a lot of positive experiences with the service and a lot of people seemed to have good results, so I took the plunge and went ahead and did an in-person visit yesterday. They scanned my teeth with the 3D camera and told me I'd hear more (and get my projected treatment video) in an email in a couple of days.
Well, here I am laying in bed and searching throughout all of reddit now regarding SDC and looking at this subreddit's controversial posts, and I'm seeing a lot of horror stories. Fractured teeth, people who had mild cases turn catastrophic after use, people who needed to see an orthodontist afterward, even some orthodontists who say they see SDC patients all the time... not to mention the whole retainer subscription service after treatment that I didn't even know about until I read about it here. I was so excited to fix my teeth, and now I'm panicking. Should I put the kebash on this immediately and run? Did I make a mistake? Red flags are going off in my head and now I'm worried I'm ultimately going to make my teeth worse than they are, and that I'm being suckered into a lifetime subscription service with their retainers.
Should I keep pursuing this? Should I run? I feel like such an idiot for not doing a better job searching up negative experience posts prior to going in... now I'm worried I'm going to harm my teeth with this product. Does anyone have any advice?
