SMASH CROSS
The Master Sword slams into the ground.
Link and Zelda are thrown out of a cloud of darkness and barely manage to skid to a stop. Both are obviously battle-worn. Link has been disarmed by the previous attack; the Master Sword implanted in the ground in front of him as the cloud of darkness swirls menacingly. Within the swirling darkness, a dark face grins evily, then begins a familiar laugh. As Link and Zelda look on, the darkness parts to reveal Ganondorf! His look for SSB4 is heavily inspired by his Hyrule Warriors design. The warlock laughs menacingly, mocking his opponents. The darkness swirls around Link and Zelda as Ganondorf grins, revealing that a horde of shadowy creatures with menacing red eyes are surrounding our heroes.
Link grits his teeth, glaring at Ganondorf, while Zelda shifts her gaze back and fourth, preparing for the horde's attack. Ganondorf tilts his head up slightly with a smug laugh and the dark hordes begin to close-in from all sides. Zelda reacts swiftly, casting Naryu's Love over both herself and Link which guards-against and repels the horde's attack, sending the monsters of darkness flying backwards in a dramatic shot. As the magical-barrier disperses, Link charges through Zelda's spell, rushing forward toward Ganondorf, plucking the Master Sword from the ground and leaping into the air in one smooth motion, bringing the blade down on Ganondorf with a battle cry.
Instantly Link's strike is blocked by...Ganondorf's own blade! Link is shocked as Ganondorf's new weapon counters Link's own legendary sword. Ganondorf smirks confidentially, then rushes forward and grabs Link in a Flame Choke, showing that his classic moveset is not completely-forgotten. Link struggles as Ganondorf surges a pulse of dark energy into his hand, but suddenly a golden beam streaks by Ganondorf's hand, freeing Link at the last second. Zelda stands with her bow still drawn, having fired a Light Arrow to save Link at the last second.
Ganondorf frowns as he leaps back. Link falls to the ground, clearly at his limit. Ganondorf watches as Zelda tries to ready another arrow, but then realizes the dark hordes are once-again closing-in on her, forcing her to take her focus off of Ganondorf. The warlock grins evilly and begins to laugh as the darkness envelops him, growing massively in size, its dark shadow falling over the weakened Link who looks up as he tries to get back on his feet. With a roar, the shadows disperse, revealing Ganondorf in his Ganon-form, his new Final Smash, as he towers over the Hylian Hero. Zelda attempts to ready another arrow but is forced to retreat via Farore's Wind when the horde closes-in, warping to Link's back. The two heroes watch as the dark creatures close-in while Ganon himself raises his trident to strike the finishing blow!
Suddenly from the dark-skies above, a flicker of light.
A glamorously-designed vial falls from above, crashing between Link and Zelda. In a burst of light, a brilliant liquid spreads out from the shattered-vial across the entire battlefield, bursting into a radiant-fire. While Link and Zelda remain unharmed, the entire legion of dark monster is vaporized by the radiant-fire, and Ganon's dark form is dispelled, Ganondorf bracing as the light repels his ultimate-transformation. All three fighters are equally-confused by this turn of events.
Ganondorf, however, clenches his teeth in fury and charges at the weakened Zelda and Link with his blade, ready to play executioner. Suddenly a sharp crack is heard and Ganondorf's blade falls asunder as the Master Sword did before, struck from his hand as he leaps back in shock. Link, Zelda and Ganondorf watch as a large whip recoils above, having disarmed the warlock and returning to the shadows of a massive castle looming above the battlefield. The moon breaks through the dark clouds above, illuminating a cloaked figure standing in the rafters of the castle. He clutches the whip in his hand.
"Another monster of the darkness..."
Ganondorf grits his teeth in anger, the figure clearly referring to him.
"I will show you..."
The figure leaps from the rafters above, landing between Ganondorf and our heroes.
"...the power.."
The figure tosses away his cloak.
"Of House Belmont!!"
-Vampire Killer begins to play-
SIMON BELMONT hunts down his prey!!
-Gameplay Footage showing the following-
Simon Belmont lands in the Dracula's Castle stage, taking on Ganondorf ala the CGI sequence.
"Abomination of the night, you face Simon of the Belmont clan."
"I will repel the scourge of your kind with the treasure of my bloodline; behold! The legendary whip, Vampire Killer!"
Simon's whip, the Vampire Killer, is shown to strike identically to how it does in classic Castlevania games, windup and all, acting as his Neutral Special. Furthermore, the whip seems to have low power; unable to knock Ganondorf out of his Warlock Punch animation, which he strikes Simon with.
"The one who wields this whip is not so easily beaten! Vampire Killer grows in strength with each strike!!"
Simon continues whipping with the Vampire Killer in gameplay, a nigh-instant animation of him grasping the coiled-whip showing that the whip gains upgrades as the battle progresses ala classic Castlevania games; first lengthening its range, then gaining an iron morning-star-like upgrade, and finally finishing with a flaming-attribute-buff. The full-power Vampire Killer is shown to have much-greater damage, stun and knockback power; a major asset of Simon's gameplay-strategy.
"The Vampire Killer will cleave your soul!!"
Simon's other specials are displayed.
"My whip is not my only weapon. Let me show you the tools of a vampire hunter!"
Holy Water vials are dropped in front of him, acting similarly to Ness/Lucas' PK Fire, but with damage traded in exchange for greater stun-power/range.
Simon and Yoshi both air-recover, Yoshi throwing his Egg while Simon throws his Axe special attack; both are revealed to grant a slight hop in the air to aid in recovery. Unlike Yoshi's Egg, however, the Axe continues its trajectory even if it strikes an opponent. The Vampire Killer is also shown to have great tether-recover ability, especially when upgraded to its full-power.
Simon's final special is the Boomerang Cross, acting as it did in classic Castlevania games as a tricky projectile that flies forward similar to Link/Toon Link's Boomerangs, but instead of returning to Simon, retreats backwards in the exact opposite direction, striking through any foes caught in its way; Simon is shown using this tactic to strike opponents both in front of and behind him by deliberately leaping out of the attack's trajectory.
"With these weapons and the might of my whip, I will banish the evils of this world!"
A combo-shot of Simon against Ganondorf showcases how he is supposed to be played; Simon strikes Ganondorf from the air with the Throwing Axe, pulls him in with the Boomerang Cross into his Holy Water attack, which stuns Ganondorf long-enough for Simon to strike him several times with the Vampire Killer, upgrading the weapon and then finishing Ganondorf off with the full-power Vampire Killer attack. Simon is a tactical and strategic character; his gameplay-style, much like his role in classic Castlevania games, revolves around his usage of his situation-based-weaponry combined with well-timed/placed strikes with his whip to ensure his survival and gain the upper-hand in battle.
"Feel the unbridled wrath of the Belmont legacy!!"
Shots of the Castlevania stage; a massive transition stage that travels throughout various levels of the iconic castle. As in the CGI sequence and the game itself, the stage is plagued by many monstrous denizens who will threaten all fighters.
"There are many great threats in this land..."
Simon battles Medusa Heads and Axe Knights in Smash Run.
"And many mighty warriors have come to battle the monsters of the castle..."
Simon, Link, Marth and Ike taunt on the Castlevania stage. Simon's taunt features him shouldering his Cross Weapon and smiling at the camera cockily while allowing his whip to droop on the ground.
Simon uses his Neutral Special to snag a Heart Container item away from Link, who instead trips on a Banana Peel; alluding to the games while simultaneously showing that the tip of the Vampire Killer can be used to grab items.
"But whether my foe is a beast..."
Simon performs his Neutral Special and then spins the full-power Vampire Killer around in an arc to knockback Bowser and Charizard simultaneously, showing that the Vampire Killer whip can be manually swung Shiek-style after the initial-swing.
"...a wielder of magics..."
Simon dodges Thoron and Din's Fire, cast by Robin and Zelda respectively, before countering both with his Down Smash; a sweeping strike with the Vampire Killer.
"...or even a divine being..."
Simon's Vampire Killer pulls a Blast Box item over his head using manual control of his Neutral Special and slams it into Pit and Palutena, sending both flying.
"...I will show no mercy to those who stand in my path!!"
"GRAND...CROSS!!"
Finally, the sequence culminates in Simon displaying his Final Smash; the Grand Cross. A massive pillar of holy-light that sweeps up all opponents and sends them flying off of the stage.
SUPER SMASH BROS LOGO
-Gameplay Easter Egg-
Simon walks in from the right of the Castlevania-stage as Dracula himself throws away his blood-wine and rises from his throne, showcasing that he is a boss for the stage and recreating the classic scene of the games.
