Help fighting spot dodgers

I've been playing project m for about 2 months or so, and my friends that I play with spot dodge ALOT. They dodge all my approaches and then punish me. I've tried tomahawking, but they always seem to react to it fast and still get most times. I would like some advice to take this strategy on as best as possible.
