A basic question about light switches
Post Body

I'm very new to smart home devices and had a potentially dumb question about light switches.

We recently had some power outages here and since I didn't go around switching off my lamps the smart bulbs of course all came on when the power came back which irked my wife, especially as one is our bed side lamp.

I'm looking into switches for a few places in the house and I'm wondering if physically switching off a light means the same as a regular switch.

So in short, if my lights are off from a switch and the power goes out then back on, will the attached lights still stay off?

Thanks in advance!
