Really old mower carb question
Post Body

My dad has a very old 4 cycle B&S mower that no longer starts. I’ve cleaned the carb on other small engines but this one has me stumped… any ideas on what I remove?

It's built to gas tank and has pick-up tubes with mesh screens on bottom. They clog up over time and usually are the problem . So if you have spark and not getting gas that's first I'd check is screens. If no spark check flywheel clearance to pick up, may have points but you can still get them and replace. The flywheel is held on by starter clutch and special tool for both, or a pipe wrench and bar will work. My first mower was just like that and it was mine to keep up and maintain.

Yes there's a diaphragm in-between tank and carb so be careful.
