Performance upgrades for 25hp Kohler v twin?

Anybody know anything about hoping up these kohlers? The engine is a surface drive setup for my duck hunting boat. And it struggles when we have a heavier load in the boat. Looking for some small upgrades, to get a bit more power. Ideally under $1000, as I can just buy a new 36hp engine to replace the 25hp for about 2k. Engine work isn’t foreign to me so I can handle most stuff.
