I sent in a web form inquiry for a software demo and when the sales guy reached out he said:
Do you have a few minutes to chat today?
If you prefer e-mail, just reply back with any questions you have.
And oh my god, it's so much more preferable. As someone who listens to lots of sales pitches, the last thing I want to do is sit on yet another conference call or screen-share and go through a bunch of un-important qualifying details while the salesperson tries to figure out what I'm looking for and adopt their pitch accordingly, all while refusing to give me pricing info until a later call.
I've been dodging some other sales guys calls for weeks because I've been busy and he refuses to email, and it's for a software I actually want! We'd have had a signed contract by now if he communicated by text.
I get that conference calls and in-person meetings are effective, but so is dealing with people where they are most comfortable. It's something I'd strongly encourage people to try out if you can't get your prospect to agree to a call or meeting.
For what it's worth I am on the younger side, so I am sure there is a generational thing here.
