I'm trying to start up a wellness studio and am researching online grants for women owned businesses. It's hard navigating the real ones from the scams. I'm a female and middle eastern so I was trying to look into women, minority, and small business loans specifically. Any recommendations of ones you used and know to be legit? I feel uncomfortable paying an amount as if it's a a raffle winning, especially without knowing if it's real. Any help or recommendations for small business grants (women related or not) or even best banks to get small business loans would be great.

I’m glad to see others saying this. Grants are one of the biggest lies pushed on new business owners I swear. Yes there are “tons” of grants out there but the vast majority are not made for SMALL small business (i.e. micro businesses) or new startups. Most are funded by specific interests that don’t apply to the majority of us. And even when you finally find one that you actually qualify for, in the amount of time you spend writing and perfecting your application, you could probably earn almost as much by doing business as usual. Those who are lucky enough to receive grants are often either businesses who are already in a thriving industry, and the ones who aren’t many times will go right back to struggling after the grant runs out.
Use that time instead to focus on growing your business, developing your skills, and investing in advertising, it’ll help you far more in the long run.
