My brother in law is trying to save to buy a home. He's really really tech savvy and has done apprentice work on IT networking type stuff and tech trouble shooting helping another friend do that work. He's looking for things he can do on the weekend and I thought this would be a great area for him to be in since he can operate from his home, order supplies only when he gets a contract, and do a lot of jobs on his own. There is a lot of small business popping up around where he lives so my question is does anyone know how such businesses do in generally high income areas where there are lots of small business and construction happening? The job he previously helped on paid him just $20/hour but he was saying the guy that hired him charged the builder $8k for 4 days of weekend work. There was just one other guy so he's thinking his boss pulled in around $3k for this job after he purchased materials (equipment charge was separate). We are wondering if this is something worth pursuing. And yes, he's really really good at it not just kind of good.
