Using Gildan & Comfort Colors for apparel business

Post Body

I noticed Gildan & Comfort Colors is widely used in the DIY apparel business world. Makes, sense Gildan is super cheap and comfort colors (owned by Gildan) is almost like a luxury version of it.

Gildan, again, is super cheap and people are charging up to $60 for the crewnecks. Look, I get it.. they put a lot of value in their time and art but damn…. Gildan is NOT a $60 product.

Am I just being a little hater, or is it kinda crazy?

Depends on what’s on the sweater to me.

As an embroiderer, charging $60 for a basic crewneck with a larger design makes sense. A printed design, maybe not.

Surprisingly a lot of people don’t really see Gildan as a low quality product (I know, bewilders me too.) But a lot of it is because they’re the biggest name in the blanks business, they’ve been around forever, and they have a huge range of color options compared to a lot of other brands. They do have a few nice products still too - the Softstyle and Hammer are both far nicer quality, and Comfort Colors is actually pretty nice stuff too, though I find the sweaters way overpriced for what they are, there’s better options on the market at that price point. I can get a higher quality, heavier weight sweater for less.
