I (m26) feel like I’ve got a serious potential business, but am not quite sure how to get to a financial point of starting.
About a year ago, I had my first bit of entrepreneurship success when I converted a van into a camper and made about 20 grand from the sale. It took time, it was far from easy, and I know that I have a long way to go. With that being said, I took an older, undesired van that was hard to work with, and made it beautiful. We had it sold in about a month just being listed on Facebook and Craigslist.
Said van was significantly cheaper then newer vans, and this was also bought before prices went sky high thanks to Covid.
In order for the business to be repetitively sustainable and reliable, the BEST option would be newer (doesn’t have to be brand new) vans.
The cost is higher, but the profit margin doesn’t have a ceiling. I have seen vans sell for hundreds of thousands fully converted. My idea of realism is much lower then this, but it’s definitely a hefty chunk of profit.
To help people understand, I’m trying my best to do this alone. I’m in school and work full time. If I have to come up with about 50 to 75 grand myself, so be it.
I’m just wondering, is there some type of outlet I can look into for coming up with money like this through business loans/investors? If so, what’s the process to go from great idea with proof of success to finding a business partner or loan to start making it a sustainable business?
Should I just keep saving myself or do smaller projects until I have the money myself? Are there no shortcuts? A lot of this is niche but I hope there are people who understand what I’m trying to communicate and share some insight with me. I am not looking for handouts, just want to see if I have any options besides doing this in time alone. Thank you.
