My friend runs a small business essentially as a handyman using an Kentucky license as a contractor. Most of the work is maintenance/repair/installation of items like water heaters, windows, siding, etc. We are at an impasse on wether he is to pay sales tax or not. Using KAR 103:026:070 I would think he does not. Would he fall under being a contractor and not have to charge a sales tax? He is paying sales tax on purchasing goods to install on a home “ie a water heater” already, so it makes no sense to double up.
