Last night, my boyfriend and I celebrated him reaching his first big milestone of 10 sexual partners, half of which he pulled in only a couple months of practicing this non-monogamous lifestyle. He is in his early 20s and having double digits for your body count is considered a big deal to some people—it may not be a lot to others or some people who have been practicing this lifestyle for a long time, but what excites me the most from this is knowing this is just the beginning and there will undoubtedly and inevitably be more to come. I stuck a candle in a cake, we agreed one candle would represent 10 people, and we talked about our journey here while the flame flickered. Him going from a repressed monogamous person, to discovering hidden desires and then waking up to the joys of being completely sexually liberated and unashamed non-monogamous person in the course of not even a year. Us figuring out together that ethical non-monogamy isn’t only for our relationship but especially unethical non-monogamy. With this figured out for us, it’s nothing but full steam ahead, no more pauses or road bumps or hesitation like sometimes happened in the couple months of practice, finding our footing. We are fully committed to this lifestyle of non-monogamy. We blew out the candle together, making a wish for many more for him.
