I have been an SLPA for 3 years now in the school setting, and I was always under the impression that SLPA's are not responsible for writing IEP goals. If I am the one working with the student, then I can write their report and give new goal recommendations, but it is not my responsibility to do this. Am I correct? I checked ASHA's scope of practice for SLPA's and I couldn't find an explicit rule. Right now I am struggling at work because my permanent supervisor quit and I have been overseen temporarily by the owner of the company that contracts me. She is rarely available and will almost never answer emails or texts. I'm just really overwhelmed and feel like I am not doing my job correctly because of the lack of support. I don't want to do anything I'm not supposed to do for risk of losing my license. Any thoughts?
