I think my advice will a little bit different, but I think it’s really easy to let grad school consume your whole life. I reserved at least one weekend a month to take road trips around the state, sometimes with classmates and sometimes by myself. It helped give me something to look forward to, got me outside, gave me a chance to experience the area of the country I moved to, and quite honestly it kept me sane. I had a running list of all of the things I wanted to see within a few hours drive so it was easy to pack up and go. Don’t let grad school be your everything for two years or you’ll only feel burnt out at the end when your career is just beginning.
