Question about speech development; toddler
Post Body

My daughter is 2.8 (will be 3 in Dec) and I'm a concerned about her language abilities. I know that receptive language vs. expressive language are two different things. She does us 3 word phrases often and a lot. For example,

What is that? Who is he? Look at that ! What's it say? I did it!

She is an only child and we often go to parks and museums on weekends.

Some days she talks more than others. She does use gestures to communicate what she wants.

She answers yes /No questions with the word "no" or yes (with a head nod).

She does recognize her primary colors by sight.

We like to read, sing , dance , play with stuff animals and toys.

She does well with pretend play as well. She'll feed Elmo Cheerios and make eating sounds. Or use pretend veggies and "eat" them. Lol

At the park she in not afraid to join the crowd of kids for some pretend play or tagging along.

She follows directions very well (2-3 step directions).

How do I know if her language is developing like it should ?

There are words she used say months back that she doesn't use anymore.

I do want to place her in pre-k half day classes once she is 3 years old. Being around her peers will help a lot too.

I just want a little guidance about all this , please. Her pediatrician says she seems like a "typical " toddler.
