Hiiiii mamas! I'm a first time mom, new to the group, & new to sleep training! I have a 7month old, and for the most part things have been great- meaning she goes down for bedtime fairly easy! (Baby cereal, bath, jammies, sleepsack, bottle & storybook- in bed by 730pm no problems! Up at 430ish am for a quick feed, back down, start the day @ 7am)
However, we've alwaaaayys had a problem with the naps.. Especially as she is getting older, she is resisting more than ever to go down & when she does it's a quick 30 mins. When she awakes, it's all smiles, laughs and excitement... But after 15mins it's clear she is still tired & didn't finish/get a good nap which leads her to being crankers & not fun :( Which leaves me constantly trying to get her down for a nap & not being successful.. Patting her bum, rocking, singing over and over again- I'm sure you know!! Its draining me big time.
Recently, my hubby mentioned sleep training(CIO method). I really didn't think I could do it.... But he convinced me to try it. She cried for 58mins when I was just about to get her, & throw in the towel... Then she stopped....... I cried, we felt as if it worked.. She had only slept for 30 mins, which was a win- I suppose? But now I'm not sure where to go from here...
Her first nap is 930am, lets say when I put her down she talks to herself for about 10 mins, falls asleep, but wakes 10:05.. Where do I go from there? Start the process all over again? I am so lost & confused. My hubby unfortunately is out of the province for work during this time, so he supports me when he can via phone.. Which is so helpful, but I need some advice from fellow mamas with experience in sleep training <3
Thank you in advance, sorry if I'm not making sense... When she finally does get to bed for the night, I stress sleep so it feels like I'm really getting no sleep LOLOLOL
(Just wanted to note there was no designated times for naps. the only consistency we had was our daily activities, 730pm bedtime, 430am feed, 7am wake.. I would try for the naps when I seen her get sleepy but I'm now thinking I was always either a little too early or a little too late- also which is why I was hoping designated times would help all of us.)
