I recently read somewhere online that parents should stop using white noise when baby is around 6 months old to avoid another sleep attachment that is required for the kid to go to sleep. We have a 3yo we still use the white noise machine. We also have a 6mo so I think for now the white noise is helpful so 3yo isn’t woken up at night when 6mo wakes up to eat.
But, long term, should we consider cutting out the white noise machine?
EDIT: It sounds like this is one of those things I should never even have started to worry about! Thank you for all the comments!
DOUBLE EDIT: wow, all these comments are jogging my memory to years ago (pre-children) we used ocean waves sounds at night for awhile when we moved from a bigger city to our current small town. I couldn’t sleep because it was too quiet at night! No ambient city sound! We stopped with the waves sounds after we got used to the quiet. I can’t believe I forgot that…
I started using white noise and sleep so much better. I'm a light sleeper and it drowns out the noises that used to wake me
