In a thread on the current OT, someone has asked for options re: which comment threads are expanded. This seems pretty reasonable.

I have a beta implementation I'd like your help testing. To opt in to the test, click here. To opt out, click here. You should get an alert when you do so in either case; if you don't, you may need to wait for your browser's cache to clear. Note that those links go to the HTTP version of SSC, so if you've been using the HTTPS version you might need to adjust the links.

Once opted in, you should see some new options under the '582 RESPONSES TO OT73: I LIK THE THRED' heading at the top of the comments on each thread. I'm not going to explain how they work, since most eventual users won't get such an explanation.

Try them out! Do they work? Do they make sense? Are they valuable? Are there issues?
