[Mod Idea/Help??] Naming Dogs in Skyrim?
Post Flair (click to view more posts with a particular flair)
Post Body

I usually pick up a stray dog in Skyrim to be my buddy for awhile because I think they’re cute and I feel bad for them, but I always want to name them.

So I poked around a fair bit and found that there’s like, 0 mods that allow you to name your pets in Skyrim. Like, when your kids adopt an animal they give them names, but you only see them when the animal dies, and there’s several named dog NPC’s in-game but like, you can’t CHANGE the name.

However, I downloaded the mod “Summermyst - Enchantments of Skyrim” and found that there’s one particular enchantment called, “Insult” which deals X magic damage and temporarily changes the targets name to something insulting. When you hit an NPC, their name changes to a range of insults depending on how many times you hit them.

So I figure, how difficult would it be to repurpose that sort of enchantment into something that just changes an NPC’s name into something cutesy, like “Fluffy”, “Snuggles”, “Spot”, etc so that you could (gently!!) smack a stray dog or your kid’s pet to give them an actual name? It would be hard to get to a name you like, but I figure you can just put the “”weapon”” at 0 damage and filter through the line until you find something you like without actually hurting the pet.

Anybody got an idea on how hard it’d be to do this?
