Skyrim Legendary Edition modding "Legacy of the Dragonborn-Vigilant patch" help

I am trying to install both legacy of the dragonborn patches and vigilant (among a bunch of other mods unrelated to this issue). The patch though requires vigilant.esp but the vigilant mod has changed to become an .esm file. A few people asked about it in the posts of legacy of the dragonborn mod page and were referred to an article on how to fix it that unfortunately no longer exists or is a dead link. Can someone with experience in this matter help me with this please?
