After a couple of years away from the PC gaming scene (read the last TES game I had on PC was Oblivion... and I don't think we're even talking GotY here) I came a wondering back and bought myself a decent, but not seriously OP, gaming laptop. The idea being in part to scratch the TES/Fallout modding itch. I know, mods are available for consoles now... but I remembered the fun I had modding Oblivion (Damn you, rose tinted glasses!) and thought I'd give it a shot.

So... windows version of Skyrim AE... £15... awesome, right! Except you can't mod that beyond what you can the Xbox version... bugger. Right... lets read up now...

Fast-forward a week and I think I know what I'm doing. Pick up the GOG version of AE with a list of mods in my head that supposedly work.

Download all the tools. Set up Vortex. Get the patch, the skeleton, FNIS, Bodyslide, all that fun stuff up and running. Right. This is going well. I've always been a people person. KS hairs. CBPE. Skysight's males. The people of Skyrim will never have looked so good.

Except... only the hairs work. I can't get the replacers to play. At all. I can tell the woman have CBPE shape... but the textures? Ehh. Nah. And the guys? No change. Right. Bin it off. Start again.

Just CBPE and skysight. (and the skelly, FNIS and tools, obvs)

Nope. No textures. Robber guy in the prison wagon with you at the start? Has no toes. Ralof or whatever his name is is still his gloriously ugly self. He just has nicer hair. I've always been Stormcloak on Xbox playthroughs. I'm now thoroughly Imperial just from looking at him over and over as he represents £60 and countless hours spent on a game I hardly want to look at.

I can post LO if needed but that is literally it. GOG AE installed outside UAC, with FNIS, XPMSSE, CBPE and Skysight and tools. Oh, and Racemenu.

I genuinely thought I'd last at least until I started modding the cities...
