Anti-cheat followers

Hi there. Is there any solution to having "immortal" (essential) followers? I relly don't like losing them, but they tremendously easen the game by being unbeatable damage sponges. I would like to make them to not get up until fight is over, or requiring player interference with, say, healing potion. Any ideas?

At least for followers on the vanilla framework (as in not custom solo frameworks like Inigo, Lucien, etc) Nether's Follower Framework has option to extend their bleed out period.
