Question regarding Vortex and how to ensure it's deploying mods properly

So - I recently starting modding up skyrim again. I am using the AE version of the game which I have installed on my D drive. I just installed bodyslide via vortex - but when I went into the games data folder none of the filepaths were there (ie the calientetools folder with subfolders and other files). I uninstalled then installed manually, but when I went to do a spot check of a few other mods I noticed other cases where files don't seem to be appearing properly. 'Fus'Roh - Do' for example never generated a 'Sound' subfolder. same with alternate start.

Is this an issue? Or am I just not understanding how vortex works?
