I normally get into the good habit of saving manually as I go but guess I got unlucky today! I had loaded my last autosave from theday before which had few hrs play on it from the last save, I then quickly died straight away so was looking to load the autosave again but to my sadness it had disappeared from the list and the next best save was my last manual save from day before!! Therefore i had lost a few hrs of play and all progress lost.
After researching on net some said to go into saves folder and rename autosave.bak to autosave.ess and it should appear again in the load list. I tried this but after restarting game again this still didn’t show on list and then I found it had disappeared all together from the saves folder location ! :(
We all know how frustrating Bethesda’s autosave feature is and it gets you when you least expect it. It will be most appreciated if anyone can assist and tell me how I can find or recover the renamed .ess file? Is it gone forever? I can’t seem to see on recuva but seems strange it’s just vanished. Are there any tools out there that can find .ess files?
