Help with Vilkas build!

I'm going through my first mage playthrough and was going to have Vilkas as my permanent companion to be a tank for me to stand behind and attack. I was going to use a black book to turn off friendly fire (pun intended) and was wondering what would be the best weaponry and armor to give him. All I really know is that he is exceptional with two handed weapons. Any and all help is appreciated!
