should i play LE or SE?

I don't remember which version i played in the past. but in any case, i want to play skyrim at somewhat stable fps. i know LE is better for slower computers, but i heard it performs worse overall. my laptop is 64bit but has only 4gb ram
I don't intend to use any mods at all btw, so that's not a factor. that's also the resaon I'm not considering AE - i prefer vanilla, not a fan of mods
