Lydia fucks me over

I am having a right laugh at Lydia being a dumbest and fucking me over. Anytime someone gets mildly aggressive she gets over protective and attacks which escalates everything. I had to send her home to do the companions coz when they tried to test me to enter she got mad and attacked them and it started a genuine fight. Same thing with the thieves guild I got caught planting Madesis ring and when he attacked so did she so I couldn't de escalate by sheathing weapons like damn calm the fuck down
