I really wanted to avoid spray foam due to how awful it is chemical-wise and eco-wise (please don't make fun or ridicule, this is very important to me for a plethora of reasons). I was looking into Havelock, denim, ceramic, aerogel, all sorts of stuff.
Unfortunately, it seems like spray foam might be the only thing with high enough R value for possible -40 winters that isn't a gajillion dollars.
I have about 3" of wall cavity space budgeted in my floorplan so far, but I can go thicker if absolutely necessary if it means NOT having to use spray foam.
Can anyone please offer some advice?
