Skiing is my first love in the world of sports and I’ve been skiing for over 40 years throughout the Western United States and S British Columbia. I’m as advanced as skiers typically can get and a really good powder day is god like. On 2/2/23 I received a burst fracture of my L1 vertebrae which is a severe spine injury from a car accident. I had emergency spinal fusion surgery to reconstruct the L1 and fuse T-12 thru L-3 together. The good news is that I’ve greatly exceeded expectations in that I can walk and function normally but the bad news is that I won’t be able to ski like I used to. It’s disappointing to me because the accident was my fault and fortunately no one else was hurt. My point here is to please be safe and watch your inverted aerial maneuvers!
