Help: My first powder day

I have never skied powder before. I am in whistler this week, and it looks like it will snow a lot.
I have some all mountain skis. Should I rent some powder skis? I will be traveling solo. This is my one big trip for the year, so I don’t want to wait in lines all day. Will taking a lesson help skip the line?
