Hey guys! I've fallen in love with chasing hike-to powder, and I've seen that Alyeska is having a great snow year despite its reputation for inconsistency. I've gotten familiar with how fast Tahoe resorts take to bomb steep terrain: a day for main areas plus a couple for more remote stuff often targeting weekend openings; palisades is especially transparent with their twitter/blog. Based on this map it seems that Alyeska often has a lot of its crazy shit closed. I guess this makes sense given it has a lot of remote, avalanche-prone terrain and few daylight hours at the moment. So, what's the powder-chasing meta for the area?
