HH jacket seriously fraying under the cuffs

Hello.
I bought this HH ski jacket and have used it for around two weeks. Unfortunately the cuffs are fraying, get all frozen, and are not holding up their waterproofing.
HH have been great and offered a full refund. Has anyone experienced this before/any tips to prolong the life of it as a backup jacket?
