warpfire throwers and bounty hunter battalion interaction question

So I'm fairly new to AoS, and I've tried searching for an answer to this question, but maybe I'm not wording it right...

Let's say I have a unit of stormfiends that are in a bounty hunter battalion, and one of them is equipped with the warpfire throwers.

When I roll the 4 for the wounds, do I only do 1 mortal damage against galletian veterans or do I do 2 mortals? I would assume that since the warpfire throwers don't actually have a damage characteristic (which is what is modified by the bounty hunter battalion) that they would only do 1 mortal, but is this the case?
