(I know I could write genderless, but haha m/F go brrt)
Picture, if you will, a normal man off the street. Imagine he finds himself shrunken down by unknown means. He is found by a woman. Maybe he knows her, maybe not. But when she finds him, her sadistic side takes over. She snatches him up, takes him home, and treats him absolutely terrible. Cruelty, degradation, humiliation, and unwillingness galore. (Just not so much that he's in danger of dying. I'm still not a gore fan, even in this little scenario.)
Then one day, the man wakes up to find that he is normal sized again. The nightmare is over! He looks around for his captor, only to feel something small and shaking underneath his arm. There she is. The person who kidnapped him, tortured him, and made his life hell. She looks up at him, fear in her eyes, knowing he could do anything at this exact moment, and she couldn't fight back. Was this the day she died? He picks her up between his fingers, smiles, and begins the trip back to his own home, carrying her in his shirt pocket. The entire time, she sobbed silently, praying that it wouldn't hurt too much.
The rest of the day, he treats her like a guest. He cooks a fine meal, gives her her own little portion. He watches a movie with her on his shoulder. He asks her if there's anyone in her life she'd like to know about her current state. She doesn't want any of her friends or family to know she's tiny. Plus, she still assumes that he's just building up to a revenge plot. So she tells him there's no one, but to please make it quick if he is going to do something to her. "You're right." He says. "There is something I planned for you."
The man brings his tiny one with him to his bedroom. There, on the dresser, is a shoebox with a piece of the side cut off to function as a door. "I made it earlier while dinner was in the oven. I know it's not much, but I thought you might like a little privacy while you're staying here." Inside the box is a block of wood to act as a table, and a makeshift bed with a folded shirt and a sock for a blanket.
Over the next few days, she continues waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it never happens. The man goes to work in the day, and hangs out with her in the evening. He gets her 3 meals a day, buys some doll clothes so she has a few other outfits, and lets her shower in his sink. He never makes a move on her. He never touches her without her consent. He never even says a bad thing to her.
After a few weeks of this, the tables flip again. He wakes up tiny, and she is now back to her normal size. The woman picks him up off his bed, and finally asks the question that's been burning in her brain the entire time. The one she was scared to ask when the power leaned in his favor: Why didn't he hurt her? Why didn't he take advantage of the situation? Why go to such lengths to be nice to someone he hates?
"I never hated you." He replied. "What you did was wrong, and I hated every minute of it. But it's because I hated every minute that I didn't want to do it to anyone else. I guess you could call it the golden rule. I saw how scared you were the morning I found you. I didn't know how long our sizes would be like that, but I knew I wanted you to have as comfortable a life as you could for as long as I had that power. As long as you were in my care, it was my responsibility to make sure you were safe and content with your situation."
This whole experience changes the woman's heart. She never shrinks again. From this day forward, she opens her house as a safe haven for people who find themselves shrunken down. Eventually, her former target grows back too. They never date - it would be too weird for him, because of how their relationship started off. But they remain friends, and work together to ensure as many tiny people are protected as they can.
...
Okay, so that was a weird idea, I guess. Kinda just popped into my head this morning.
Thoughts?
