There are four main issues that I have gathered why people think signing LeBron James would be a bad idea. They are 1) LeGm/LeAlpha (culture issues) 2)LeCline (decline issues) 3) LeFit (system issues) 4) The salary cap (no there isn't a pun... this is serious business). I want to respond to each of them in turn and show why the pros of signing LeBron outweigh the cons.
1)LeGm/LeAlpha
People point to LeBron's tenure with both the Heat and his second stint with the Cavs as evidence that LeBron wants control of a team to bring in his guys and have his way on the court. This would push the chemistry of the team down with the integration of new player(s) and taking control away from the likes of Ben and JoJo. I have two points against this.
A: LeBron showed this past trade deadline that he is willing to let go of his guys like D-Wade to make a better team. There are still some of his guys like JR and TT, but their roles are being decreased for the likes of new players such as Jordan Clarkson, Rodney Hood, and Larry Nance Jr. This is a LeBron who recognize that it will take some new things for him to have a shot at competing and that he cannot keep going with the same players. Or maybe he will recruit Paul George or Kawhi or maybe even Klay. These would potentially be good things (wait for point #4).
B: The main reason LeBron would come to a team like the Sixers is to play with some young and hungry players. It would make no sense for him to come to a young team and bring in older players with less potential than the Sixers core right now. Plus he can be a mentor to Ben as he matures. LeBron is all about having a good career narrative, and it would look great if he mentored a young player who has similar skills to him. He would not try to take over the culture in a negative way. He would help this team grow.
2)LeCline
This one does not require a two-pronged response like the last one. LeBron has shown remarkable consistency as he has aged. Even when he does begin to decline, most signs point to him doing so gracefully. And as he decline, it will be one of the greatest players of all time declining into a solid NBA player. He has no injury history that could quicken his decline. An aged LeBron could not hurt this team because we have so much youth to keep us engaged throughout the grind of the regular season. He would help us perform better in close games, and he would help this team mature into a finals contender.
3) LeFit
IMO this is potentially the second biggest potential con of signing LeBron, but I still think the pros still are better. The two points are that he is too similar a player to Ben and that as he ages he will become a more interior/post-oriented player. Let's respond to these inner-monologue.
A: Ben and LeBron are similar players, but LeBron is also one of the greatest players of all time. He can make it work. Plus while LeBron is not a lights-out outside shooter, he cannot be left open. If you have both LeBron and Ben and JoJo and Dario on the court at the same time, how on earth do you guard that much size and reliable shooting with Dario, LeBron, and JoJo (maybe semi-reliable for him). That is before you factor a fifth player like Markelle, Roco, JJ, or another shooter and the potential for Ben to improve his jumper.
B: Most wings who age gracefully do so by gaining a better outside shot. Because of LeBron's size, he may be more likely to slide down into the four than stay on the perimeter, but he still right around league average from 3 pt land shooting about 36% from behind the line on about 4.5 attempts per game the past two seasons. He has had his percentage around 40% before but on less attempts. So the potential to be a perimeter threat is there as he ages. Also LeBron has skills like passing vision and BBIQ that age very well. Also see above (LeCline).
4) Salary cap issues
IMO the biggest potential con of signing LeBron. He would command a considerable amount of our salary cap and will in all likelihood get a max contract. With JoJo already having a max contract, that would be two max contracts before factoring in paying Ben, Dario, Kelle, and a potential free-agent (PG, Kawhi, Klay). Maybe we lose Dario, but I contend that his style of high-energy play and floor-spacing potential are necessary for a championship team but that argument is for a different time. All signs point to a potentially massive salary cap. Josh Harris has stated a willingness to enter into the luxury tax if it means competing for a title But it remains to be seen how true it is and if it is true, how far he is willing to go into the tax. Losing Dario may be palatable if it means getting another star in return. Losing Ben is not an option. Let's hope that either Harris pays the tax or some players take pay cuts. I think Harris understands what it takes to compete for a chip and will pay a luxury tax which would take care of this issue.
TL;DR; LeBron is a very good basketball player, and we should welcome the signing of very good basketball players especially if Harris is willing to pay a luxury tax.

when they're winning almost every
game and make it to thefinalsAlso with or without LeBron, can't wait to hear all the process haters eventually start spewing shit like "well of course the process worked" or "the sixers have a .750 record at home ever since Christian became the floor mc. Let's not jump to conclusions"
